Nightlife in Budapest

Heya!

I’ve been to Budapest 2 weeks ago and I really had the time of my life! I stayed in a youth hostel, met awesome (crazy) people, went shopping, danced and drank yummy cocktails in the coolest bars in the city. In fact, one bar left such an impression on me that I had the urge to share it with the rest of the world.

I present you: Szimpla

At first sight, this doesn’t really look like a trendy bar but locals are used to this kind of nightlife (cabdriver told me, must be true). These bars are called ‘ruin pubs‘ and are very common in Budapest.

Entrance room. Drinks can be bought at the bar when you go right, when you would look left there is a food stand with pizza and other fastfood. In almost every pub in Budapest they have food stands, awesome isn’t it?! I call this the ‘entrance room’ because this place can be compared to a house. When you take the stairs, there are several rooms with different kinds of music, at the back there is a garden, etc.

One of the many rooms. As you can see the place looks really chaotic but it definitely has it’s charms. The owners used tons of second hand stuff and junkyard material to decorate the rooms.

 Another room in Szimpla. There are live bands performing every day at 8pm. Image you being here with good music, cool company and fairly cheap drinks. This place is a little piece of heaven!
